HOLA!!
Well, Larry found out when his last day with NCR fixing ATMs will be, August 31st.
He and 2 other guys on his team are taking the buyout rather than risk staying on and having NCR give them their last paycheck and whatever vacation time they have coming to them, period.
We are going to pay off the house, buy 2 used cars in cash and try to find an investment property realtor to sell the duplex so we can be rid of that. TOO much work repairing what people trashed and keeping it secure while it is empty. His son is on one side now, but if he can sell it before the year is out, Jason will just have to deal with whoever the new landlord is. I am tired of literally spending 6-8 hours trying to clean a stovetop and oven. I was there week before last on my day off, and used a whole can again of oven cleaner cleaning the oven out from the last tenant on the other side, for a total of 6 hours of hard "elbow grease". It looks nice now but it just irritates me how nasty some people can be!
He had to recaulk the tub, redo the floor with new vinyl tile, repaint and put a new bathroom window in. Put new shower head in. Had to put a new bottom under the kitchen sink, repaint the entire side, all the rooms, repaint the bedroom floors, put new vinyl tile in one bedroom. Repainted stairs and put down vinyl pads on each step. We will be GLAD to get rid of it!! We have had it for 8 or 9 years but it just seems that people don't give a darn about property and are just pigs!!
He also wants to go back to NJ to visit family in October, as that is when we will have the money to do it and put Charlie in a kennel. Since my jobs gives me grief trying to get a weekend off, we will probably end up taking Monday through Friday for that trip, with Fri. being my rest day back in Ohio before I work that weekend. Will know more once the money comes through and we get the cars, etc. Elita won't be able to come because of break conflict with college.
We have some other decisions to make too, as for him retiring and getting a part-time job once he is done with NCR. Will weigh all the options and then go to the Social Security office in Dayton and see what will happen. It's just sad that all companies see is "age" and not work ethic and actually showing up when you are supposed to work!!
Till then, just trying to hang in at my hospital job. Haven't found one anywhere else so far.
I am GLAD I can go to Zumba again, as that has helped a lot to get rid of stress on the job and with this situation coming up!!
Have a good day/night everyone!!
