    HOLA,

FINALLY got my 2 pair of no line bifocals back.  I like them but I have to get used to them after having only reading glasses to depend on.

One pair is kind of a brown tortoise-shell and 1 pair black:

    BROWN:
Hair is flat from not doing anything with it on my days off.
    BLACK:
These are a little lighter in weight than the others.  I will probably alternate wearing them to work.  They were 2 pair for $99 at Stanton Optical but they don't tell you in the commercial you may have to wait 3-4 weeks to get them, as they ship them out to their headquarters.  :(

    I do like them though.

Back to work tomorrow and hoping nobody bothers me.  I am trying to get through this 18 months and then retire when I am 62.  Need to call the SS office and see what I have to do to get my first check after turning 62 so there are no money gaps.

If I can do it it will be a savings for me as far as gas and less wear and tear on my van.  I would get a part-time job anywhere as I know there is a limit on how much you can earn and NOT have it affect your SS check.

  • YOU CAN'T VOICE YOUR OPINION . . . .

    HOLA!

Please just keep this to yourselves and do NOT say anything on FB about it as the hospital monitors FB.

Well, another day at The Regions' Leader.  I come in and am on my ER area and I hear this guy screaming and cursing and other voices.  I am on the trauma side from Fri. to Sun.  this week. I look past the curtain when I check the trash, and yes it needs to be taken out.  I see these nurses yelling at this patient who is on his stomach with a knife sticking out of his back.

I go in the break room to put my lunch in the fridge and I see these nurses, PCTs, patient care technicians, laughing about this guy and "How the Hell can he be scared of a needle when he's got a knife in his back?"  What???!!!

So I go to my hallway start getting my cart together.  They decide to move him from the trauma room to a smaller ER room and are still yelling at him.  By now he is very upset and F-bombs are flying so this one nurse who has been mean to other patients says, Get the restraints and call security.

I commented to the PCT in the trauma room that it seemed a little excessive to restrain this guy's legs when it was the nurses baiting him.  Two nurses saw me watching them as I walked past the room.  Long story short somebody called my manager and said I was "interfering" with patient care and it wasn't my place to say anything.

I suspect these people are also jealous because I am not the typical "housekeeper" and am not a "stupid" person.  I know most of the things they do throughout the day, having typed it for 17 years.

My manager called me in to the office and proceeded to chew me out and threatened to fire me saying, "You can't go into the world of the nurses and the PCTs."  "You are a housekeeper.  Your job is to clean and shut your mouth!"

I was so mad I was fighting back the tears because they know we need our jobs because of the economy, so they treat you like crap.  He told me I would be written up because, "You can't express your opinion to them about what you think is wrong."  They even got the AO, Administrative Office for the hospital, involved.

So my manager tells me,"Their world is different from your world." What the Hell??? What is so stupid about it is we are made hospital-wide now to go to these mandatory meetings about the new Initiative: Putting patients and family first.  What a joke!  We have another 90 min. to 2 hour mtg. coming up some time the end of this month or as late as Sept. for this.  They are telling us, "Everyone is a part of the care team for the patient and the family."  What a joke!

I asked him who it was who tattle-taled and he wouldn't tell me.  I asked why they didn't tell me personally if they thought I said something wrong?? No answer was given.  Now it puts me on the defensive and not wanting to say anything to anybody but my co-worker Diane, because I don't know who to trust now and who might try to get me in trouble.  And they wonder why people in our dept. are quitting and they can't keep workers.

I didn't get written up yet so maybe it will happen when I go back Wed.  If the AO is the one I know, they don't know that we know each other, having gone to the same church for years.  So if it is her, he may be in for a surprise as that lady knows my character and that I would genuinely stand up for a patient even if it wasn't the PC thing to do.

I will see what happens but it is sad that you can't speak up when you see people mistreating a patient.

    Thanks for reading this.

Somehow my comments feature got turned off.  UGH!  Feel free to comment people.  :)

  • A GOOD OUTCOME. TYJ!!

    HOLA!

Elita retook Calculus this summer and TYJ!  I thanked Him for that professor because she went from going to a possible F in the other class to getting an A!!!!
She took some other classes to bring up her GPA, so Black Media A, Psychology A and Sociology A!!  She should have at least a 3.2 for her sophomore year.

She has her confidence back now and we are so happy as this year was a REAL challenge for her with lots of tears.

Her junior year starts Aug. 27 so will be praying that she can get a good understanding of her classes quickly.  Don't know what she will have as her schedule has not been confirmed yet.

This was the start of her sophomore year:  She was about 130 lbs. here.

She had the sophomore 15 from stress about classes, but it is coming off now. With the good coutcome of summer classes and less stress, she will get the rest of it off as she is not in a dorm anymore so she has to ride her bike to classes.

Now if I could get a job with at least every other weekend off, we could go down to see her.  She was here this past weekend but I had to work so we didn't really do much together, as she had to go back Sunday at noon.

  • R&R AND DON'T DIS THE US!!!

    Hola,

Two days off tomorrow.   R&R in Nov.!
Hoping they win because if we have 4 more years of this guy I am going to be going into miser mode on just about everything!  I am so tired of seeing my money go to people who sit on the their butts and now he is talking of suspending the requirement for work to get welfare!!

Here is a picture of what "look at me syndrome" looks like, taken last year:
Yes, this is a legitimate picture.

I truly hope we get more turnout for this election so we can get this clown out of there!

Temp is 78 today so feels chilly compared to the 90s we had.

I was watching news in the break room at work today and this African doctor asked me why I was watching politics, so I told him because I want to be an informed voter.  He then said the gov't. is corrupt. I felt like asking him WHY are you criticizing OUR country when you left YOURS to come here?  I also was really tempted to ask WHAT African country he was from, because they are the epitome of corruption!!! I also wanted to tell him, you know, that's the beauty of America, you can voice your opinion and not be jailed or killed. WHAT would happen to YOU if you said that where YOU come from???

If he ever questions me again about it I am going to ask him all 3 of those questions! If you don't like our country, go back to where you came from!!!

  • SO SAD!!

    HOLA,

How can one man be filled with so much hate?

    Wade Michael Page

Seven people were shot and killed today at a Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wis., in what officials are treating as a case of domestic terrorism.

Though police have not given any details on the identity or motive of the shooter, or released the identities of the victims, sources have told ABC News the shootings are the work of a "white supremacist" or "skinhead."

Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms Special Agent Thomas Ahern said the suspect had tattoos and that authorities were investigating whether he was a "skin head or "white supremacist" as two ABC Sources said.

"It is being investigated. And what his tattoos signified is being investigated. They are all pieces of a possible puzzle to learn what was his motive in carrying out such a horrific act," Ahern said.

This evening, the FBI and a bomb squad arrived at a home in Cudahy, Wis., near Oak Creek, and ABC News Milwaukee affiliate WISN reported the action appeared to be related to the temple shootings earlier in the day.

Authorities also were trying to trace a single, semiautomatic handgun recovered at the scene, sources told ABC News.

In addition to the seven confirmed dead, three people -- two adult male civilians and a male police officer -- were in critical condition and were being treated at a local hospital, said officials at Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin.

The apparent gunman was shot and killed in an exchange of gunfire with the wounded police officer outside the temple and was one of the seven dead.

"The officer stopped a tragic event that could've been a lot worse," Oak Creek Police Chief John Edwards told reporters.

Four people were found dead inside the temple and two others were found dead outside the building.

Edwards said authorities were treating the event as a domestic terrorism incident and the FBI would be conducting a full investigation.

"The FBI is working closely with the Oak Creek Police Department and other local and federal agencies to investigate today's shooting incident," FBI Milwaukee Special Agent in Charge Teresa Carlson said in a written statement. "This remains an active investigation in its early stages. While the FBI is investigating whether this matter might be an act of domestic terrorism, no motive has been determined at this time. We know our community has been deeply impacted by this incident, and our thoughts are with those affected and particularly with the officer who was wounded in the line of duty to protect others."

Individuals attending Sunday services at the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin, just south of Milwaukee, fled in all directions this morning when a gunman entered and began firing. Many hid in bathrooms or other rooms within the temple while the shooter attacked, according to police.

The president of the temple, Satwant Singh Kaleka, was preparing to deliver remarks when he became one of the shooting victims. His son, Amardeep Kaleka, spoke by phone with ABC News' David Muir shortly after getting a call from the priest using his father's phone.

"I picked it up immediately thinking it was my dad, but it was the priest and he was standing right next to him," Kaleka said. "He told me right away that right now my father can't speak. There's too much blood coming out of his back area and we have to get ambulances in there right away."

Soon, he heard briefly from his mother, also in hiding in the temple and asking for information about his father.

Just too much evil going on.

    HOLA!

I don't want to be pushed off the cliff!

We are just now trying to get back on our feet after losing good jobs!

I do NOT want 4 more years of this clown!

I write a budget every 2 weeks, and STAY in it!! I have to cut in some areas to make it work but I do!  Am I always happy??? NO!!

Are there things I would like to buy and places I would love to go?? YES!  BUT, right now I have to do what I can to keep making ends meet while others sit on their butts and collect welfare and Medicaid from MY hard-earned dollars!

I am perfectly capable of wasting my money if I want to!

  • HOLD IT LOOSELY

    HOLA!

Off today and tomorrow. With the everyday tasks we all get involved in and just the "work" of living, I wonder, what is FIRST on our lists and in our hearts???

I love Larry and Elita very much but I have learned and try to do this as much as possible, TO HOLD IT ALL LOOSELY in my hands.

Tomorrow  could bring anything for me and I have to realize that   NONE of it is really mine, but all His.

Is Jesus first on your list? Do you ask Him for strength and guidance each day to make it through?

Do you thank Him for all He has given you and allowed you to give to others?

Sadly, it seems to take tragedies to get churches filled and eyes back on God and Jesus.

In a couple of months those numbers will go down again, just like with 9-11.

Most people make a Goals List or a Bucket List.  Where would Jesus be on yours if He is not there now???  Where is church on your list???

"But Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

  • KROGER AQUATIC CENTER. WORTH EVERY PENNY!

    Hola,

Went to the new Kroger Aquatic Center this afternoon.  It is definitely worth the money.  If I hadn't had to make a car repair last month I would have gotten the Senior season pass, which is only $80 for those 60 and up.  It was 95 out with humidity!  Now 96 here in Huber Heights at 6 pm.
